Wow. have I been asleep and not read the GOG Magazine properly in recent years.

Either that or this is an extremely well kept secret.

What chance of a visit group or otherwise?

Hi Phil & Allen,

Thanks for the compliment. The situation on this railway is at the present time a dvd is being produced to be released later this year.

I have been asked to produce a dvd for the Gauge 0 Guild which is in the course of being made.

Allen you have not missed anything this railway has not been seen in any publications to date. As regards viewing the system I would hope to arrange this sometime in the future.

If members would like to see snippets of this system via the you-tube link every now and again I would be happy to oblige.

The purpose of showing it on this site first was because it shows on close inspection that course scale can live with fine scale very well. A lot of rolling stock is Ace Trains and now the locomotives are produced for two rail these will also run in the future indeed there are 5 E/8s running on this system. They run on my North London line which was not shown as that is in the north shed.

Regards Roy.

Thanks for that- fascinating.

I await developments in due course. One day the fine scale wallah's will not be describing what we do as 'playing with toy trains'. Some toys- some trains.

I was looking at the BR A3 that was featured in Fleetman's 'clickerty clack piece that lurks in my office.. The day that excitement can be reproduced in finescale at the price is the day I will say point, set and match.

My only regret is that my old friend Stanley Beeson was not around to see some of our line as he I know would have approved on the basis of what he achieved in coarse scale over 75 years ago.

Allen

"Dream City" seems a very apt name for this layout, as it, certainly, reminds me of dreams about layouts that go in and out of various buildings seemingly endlessly and are complex up to and beyond our wildest fancies!
It reminds me of a layout I once read about, where trains disappeared into the garden, and did not appear again, for several days on end.
I, for one, would very much like to be part of any projected visit, if possible.

Does it ever stop! What a realistic city setting. Excellent workmanship and fascinating viewing. Is this all manually operated? What fun! Alan

Hi Howardstarr and Alanb sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks for the compliments and Howardstarr I have noted your request.
Alanb The railway is operated from a central control room with the aid of closed circuit television for the parts I cannot see from the control room. Automation is a necessity on this system as it would be impossible to operate 30 trains without it. Manual operation is required to start the system up and is a complex affair. The system is operated on the automatic train protection system. When the power supply is removed it fails safe, so it is important that you know where every train is on start up because you have to overide the electronic system to get the trains running safely. Therefore the shutting down is very important that has to be carried out in some sort of order so that you know where the trains are for start up. With up to ten trains runing on the same track manual operation with the automatic protection can be fun.
Regards Roy.

Roy.
I don't know which was number 5, but I've just watched the view from the Guards Van.

I've never seen anything quite like it, it's utterly spell-binding.
Because of the perspective created, the pedestrians and vehicles almost seemed to be in motion as well - or have I been completely swept away to some alternative reality?! Truely exceptional.
