I am looking to set up my first train set at the young age of 56 can you please point me in the right direction to buy the train track and controler all help would be appreciated.

I don't know if you have had any private replies to your request, but if not, the following may help.
You don't say if you are UK based, if you are, Ace Trains and Maldon Rail will have a stand at Sandown Park Racecourse, Portsmouth Rd Esher, Surrey, KT10 9AJ, on Saturday May 21st. This is one of the largest toyfairs in the country.
They will be able to help you with track advice about, either, "Atlas" or "Michael Foster" track.
At the same show Mike Delaney should have "Helmsman", controllers. These have proved themselves, recently, as a reliable piece of equipment. Other makes, both new and secondhand, may be available at the same show.
