Greetings.
I fear that I may be something of an imposter judging by the impressive levels of knowledge and ownership obvious from a brief look at this forum.
I don’t even have a layout.
However, a boy cannot be born and brought up in York in the 1960s without developing a keen interest in the railways.
I have a Bassett-Lowke (can I say that on here?) Flying Scotsman and an ACE Mallard, simply because they are lovely things to own and I remember my father taking me to see the real things in full steam back in the day.
Continuing the York connection, I have the ACE Bulleid Winston Churchill on order.
Allen tells me that this is one of the last he has available, so I am waiting excitedly for it to have some minor modification to the lighting. (PCB?)
I have a few metres of decent track, so when the Churchill is delivered, the next thing will be creating a display cabinet. I intend buying some toughened glass, cut to size and making this from scratch.
I no longer live in York but have a visit to the National Railway Museum scheduled for later this month to reacquaint myself with these magnificent machines.
Cheers,
Ordy.
